The Master in Innovation Design (M.A.) at CODE University of Applied Sciences empowers creative and strategic thinkers to drive change in organizations, technology, and society. This program combines design, entrepreneurship, and research to develop the mindsets and skills needed to design innovative products, services, and systems that create human and social impact.

Students learn to apply design methods in real-world contexts, explore complex socio-technological systems, and work across disciplines — all within the heart of Berlin’s dynamic innovation landscape.

What you’ll learn

Throughout the program, you’ll learn to:

Your studies combine creative practice, theory, and strategic innovation, giving you the tools to turn design into a catalyst for change.

Admission requirements

To join our program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree of any field
  • At least one year of professional experience (including internships, working student positions, founding a startup, …)
  • Proof of English language proficiency (at least B2). Here’s what we accept.

Career Paths

Graduates will be prepared for diverse roles at the intersection of design, strategy, and innovation—shaping products, organizations, and systems that create real-world impact.

  • Design Strategist / Service Designer:

Develop concepts and frameworks that align user needs, business goals, and technological opportunities. Design Strategists and Service Designers translate complex challenges into holistic experiences and innovative service solutions.

  • Innovation Manager:

Lead innovation processes within organizations by identifying opportunities, fostering experimentation, and guiding teams from idea generation to implementation. Act as the bridge between creativity, business strategy, and execution.

  • Creative Director:

Oversee design direction and brand experience across platforms. Creative Directors define the visual and conceptual identity of projects, ensuring coherence, quality, and creative vision that drives strategic goals.

  • UX or Product Design Lead:

Guide the design and development of digital products that balance user experience, technical feasibility, and business value. Product Design Leads manage interdisciplinary teams to deliver products that are both intuitive and impactful.
