Your way to CODE

Here are all the details you need to know about our admission process

Just as demanding and rewarding as our study programs

At CODE, we worked hard to develop a unique admission process that is an exciting learning experience in itself and not just a necessary administrative annoyance. And don’t worry if you think you don’t yet know enough about digital product development to shine in the admission process. We are primarily assessing your motivation and potential to be successful at CODE.

Our admission process is unique: you are not competing with other applicants for a spot. Instead, we’re assessing if you’re a good fit for our unique learning model and culture! We cannot enroll an unlimited number of students, but there is no fixed number of places to fill.

A new approach to learning

Our admission process is designed to find out if CODE is the right place for you - and you are the right person for CODE. This is why our admission process aims to challenge your drive and curiosity - and this is how:

You'll also answer a series of questions designed to help us understand your motivations and aspirations. Don't forget to upload your qualifications to demonstrate your readiness for our unique educational approach. This is your opportunity to showcase why you belong at CODE.

A special approach to learning requires special students

We have a special approach to learning and teaching at CODE, which is why we are looking for students who want to learn and work differently. We are looking for special talents, so we don’t believe that standardized test results or school grades will be much help in our selection process. What we can promise you is that we evaluate all applicants equally, with no preferential treatment given regarding gender, sexual orientation, or social background. Here you can find our official admission regulations.

Frequently asked questions

At CODE, we embrace a rolling admissions process so you can apply any time throughout the year! This gives you the flexibility to start your application whenever you’re ready. We have new students joining CODE twice a year, with the Spring Semester starting in February and the Fall Semester starting in September. If you want to join for the Spring Semester, your application should be submitted by November, so that there’s enough time for us to review and for you to go through the process. If you want to join for the Fall Semester, your application should have reached us by June.
If you require a visa to study in Germany, we recommend beginning the process as early as possible to allow ample time for visa arrangements and relocation preparations. If, for any reason (e.g., visa delays), you cannot begin your studies in your intended semester, don’t worry—your enrollment will automatically roll over to the next semester.

Your high school grades don’t have to be perfect, but there are some Higher Education Entrance Qualifications requirements you’ll need in order to be eligible to study in Germany ( check here ). So long as you meet those, what matters to us at CODE is your dedication to becoming a Digital Pioneer.

Yes, you need to demonstrate that your English language skills are at least at B2 level. We accept multiple certificates to prove this: check out this list for more details. If you are unsure about your level, we recommend just taking a chance and applying anyway. Your English doesn’t need to be perfect – we believe that you can improve your spoken and written language skills while you study at CODE. Bear in mind, though, that the entire admissions process is in English and all communication with the CODE team will be in English from the moment you apply to the moment you graduate.

Yes, the admissions process is the same for everyone, regardless of whether you are an international applicant or applying from Germany, a beginner or have extensive knowledge in digital product development. We strongly believe that everyone should get a fair chance. Besides, how else will you know if you and CODE are a great fit?

Yes, you can! Not every Digital Pioneer is a coder. That said, if you’ve never designed or worked on something digital in your life before, you will need all your dedication and creativity. Like everyone else, you will need to pass our admission process. If you have the drive and the passion for digital technologies, you can do it!

There’s no special preparation necessary for your application to CODE! The best advice we can give is to be yourself and give your best effort. We have designed a unique admission process that is not based on assessment scores, but rather on all the unique and individual qualities our applicants have to offer. Finding out whether you are a good fit for CODE is more than assessing your project – it’s about learning about you as a potential member of our community. And applying to CODE is also a two-way street – it also gives you the opportunity to find out whether it’s the right place for you!
