External Lecturer in Interaction Design
Surya Gied is a painter who works and lives in Berlin, Germany. Her paintings and site-specific
installations focuses on the process of personal fragmentation and the abstraction of identity.
Her work has been awarded with grants from the German Academic Exchange Service, the
Goethe Institute Seoul and the Bosch Foundation Alumni Association. In 2016 Surya Gied was
nominated for the Schering Stiftung Art Award and in 2017 for the Villa Romana Prize. Her
recent works has been shown at the Hillyer Art Space, Washington DC, USA, PyeongChang
Biennale, South Korea, Savvy Contemporary, Berlin and Galerie Wedding, Berlin. Her teaching
experience ranges over five years and she has been working with students at MUM, Fairfield,
USA, University of Kassel and Kunsthochschule Kassel.
