Professorship in Software Engineering with a Specialisation in Blockchain Technologies

Broad skills and experiences in Software Engineering are required. Candidates should also have a strong interest in use cases, business models and social impact related to blockchain technologies and other cryptographic methods.

CODE’s teaching model is radically student-driven and project-oriented. Teaching at CODE includes intense mentoring processes, which require responsiveness and dedication. Candidates will work as mentors for a wide range of student-driven projects with industry and non-profit partners. Candidates are expected to explore applications of blockchain technology for a wide range of business- and real life scenarios. Teaming with our CODE students you will apply blockchain technologies to real-life situations and offer guidance to turn ideas into practical experiences.

Which criteria are important?

Candidates have to meet the formal requirements as stated in §100 Berliner Hochschulgesetz. This typically requires five years of relevant work experience, at least three of them outside higher education. The candidate’s academic qualification for a professorship is usually demonstrated by a doctorate or a Ph.D. Pedagogical experience is also required.

English language skills are required, German language skills are not. Teaching and international experience will be an asset.

Who are we looking for?

CODE values different perspectives and is committed to a respectful, inclusive and diverse work environment and encourages people of all genders, backgrounds, and origins to apply. We especially welcome applications from women and people from groups underrepresented in today’s academia. Qualified candidates with disabilities will be favored.
We are looking for versatile, dedicated, and widely interested and interesting individuals who are open to learning, to listening with curiosity, and to both giving and receiving feedback as part of routine reflection. We have a strong commitment to our community, to supporting and learning from each other, to development, and to building a familial work atmosphere. Candidates would join a university startup in the center of Berlin where the foundations are still being laid.
CODE offers full- and part-time professorships.
