Julia Zielke

Lecturer for Sociology

Julia is a social scientist with an interest in post-structural theory, feminism and critical thought. She has had enjoyed a wide and varied education in Kentucky, Maastricht, York, Exeter and, most recently, Liverpool, where she is about to finish her PhD on ‘community wellbeing’. Outside the classroom, Julia is passionate about civic engagement, participatory methods and alternative forms of urban governance, specifically in regards to social inequalities in low-income neighbourhoods. It upsets her that some people never really get to have a say because of where they live or who they grew up as and wants to find creative ways to break down barriers to democratic collaboration and engagement.

She is super excited to talk to you about ideas to change the world (one step at a time) and is always happy to ask and be asked all sorts of unanswerable questions.
